The Franklin Zoo Charitable Trust is currently fundraising for Jumbo’s pension fund. Funds raised will help to build her winter barn with a heater for winter, warm water for wash downs, inside area for activities and training when the weather is bad and a soft sand pit for sleeping.
The Trust is building a pension fund to support Jumbo into her retirement. Our dream for Jumbo is to get her in a situation where she can have other African elephants for company; Jumbo’s pension fund will travel with her if and when it comes time to move her.
The Trust is also fundraising to build new homes for Tony the Chacma Baboon, the Capuchin monkey family, Spider monkeys and Lemur forest. There is a Kea Conservation Area planned, also a Veterinary Clinic with a rehabilitation area for native birds planned.
Our mission is to Rehabilitate and re-home at risk exotic and native animals and birds so our priorities change with the needs presented to us by those creatures in need.
